Welcome To The Wildcat Soccer Men's                                     Coach's Page!

Tex McCullough - Head Coach

I grew up in the North Texas select soccer system where I was blessed to learn from a few great coaches: Tim Trevino, John Gall Sr., and Kevin Smith. The final club team that I played for was Solar 89, a very successful and well coached team. We won multiple big time tournaments including the National Championship. Solar 89 won Classic League all eight years as well as the Premier League multiple times and was never ranked lower than 3rd in the country.

In high school I played for Plano Senior High and coached by Bob Weir. I accumulated District and All-Area honors throughout my career as well as District Offensive MVP honor. My senior year we were ranked in the top five nationally for high school soccer. I also accumulated District and 1st team All-Area honors as a corner for the Plano Senior High Football team on the Grid Iron.

I was recruited by multiple Division 1 schools and eventually choose the University of Michigan. My freshman year I was the only freshman that lettered and didn’t redshirt. At its peak the team was ranked as high as 9th in the country, but unfortunately barely missed the NCAA tournament.
Due to injuries and missing my home state of Texas, I decided to transfer from the University of Michigan to Midwestern State University in Texas to play under Coach Doug Elder. Once again, I was fortunate to be part of another special program and enjoyed a successful career at Midwestern. We won conference all three years I played with the team, made the NCAA tournament all three years, advanced to an Elite Eight, and, in my last year, went undefeated in the regular season to advance to the Final Four.

I accumulated all conference and all academic honors during my collegiate career, but unfortunately also accumulated three knee surgeries which ended my career. I then graduated and have been teaching/coaching for the last three years at Wilson Middle School in Plano, Texas. This will be my ninth year as head coach of my alma mater.
